Common Causes of Existing Epoxy Coating Failure
The most common causes of existing resin flooring failure are improper surface preparation, thermal shock and water vapor pressure. If proper preventive measures are not taken before and during the initial installation, it may become necessary to replace or resurface your existing floor.
Yankee employs a wide range of dust-free surface preparation techniques including shot blasting, diamond grinding, scarification, and ultra high pressure water jetting (40,000 psi) to ensure proper adhesion of new coatings. We also use microbial bioremediation chemicals to safely remove oil from dirty concrete floors before epoxy coatings are applied. Our knowledgeable technicians always check for water vapor in advance, and prevent thermal shock by using hi-temperature resin coupled with special primers and fiber reinforcement.
